GENERIC STRUCTURE
OF TEXT


Narrative text:

A. Definition

Narrative text is a story with complication or problematic events and it tries to find the resolutions to solve the problems. An important part of narrative text is the narrative mode, the set of methods used to communicate the narrative through a process narration.

B. Generic Structure Of Narrative Text

1. Orientation
in this part,it will introduce the characters in the story. it can be name,place,etc. it is usually occur in the first of paragrhaph.

2. Complication
it is increasing the problem. it can call climax of the story when the crisis is rising up

3. Resolution
it is time to solve the problem. it usually call anti-climax, it means that the problem can be solved, even bad or good ending

EXAMPLE

SNOW WHITE

Once upon a time there lived a little girl named snow white. She lived with her aunt and uncle because her parents were died. Orientation


One day she heard her Uncle and Aunt talking about leaving Snow White in the castle because they both wanted to go America and they didn’t have enough money to sake Snow White. Snow White did not want her Uncle and Aunt to do this, so she decided it would be best if she ran away. The next morning she ran away from home when her Aunt and Uncle were having breakfast. She ran away into the woods. Complication


Then she saw this little cottage she knocked but no one answered, so she went inside and fell asleep. Meanwhile, the seven dwarfs were coming home from work. They went inside. There they found Snow White sleeping. Then Snow White woke up. She saw the dwarfs. The dwarfs said, “what is your name?” Snow White said, “My name is Snow White.” Doc, one of the dwarfs, said, “If you wish, you may live here with us. “Snow White said, “Oh could I? Thank you. “Then Snow White told the dwarfs the whole story and finally Snow White and the 7 dwarfs lived happily ever after. Resolution

Recount text

A. Definition

Recount text is a text that is telling the reader about one story, action, or activity..

B. Generic Structure of Recount Text

1. Orientation
tell who was involved, what happened, where the event took place, and when it happened. with when ? where? why?

2. Events
Tell what happened and in what sequence. Events are identified and described in chronological order.

3. Reorientation
consist of events/ending, concluding comments express personal opinion regarding the events described

EXAMPLE

Diving in Bunaken Island

Last year, i left new Zealand for Bunaken Island. I went there with a group of new Zealand divers. Getting there was not quite easy Orientation

Report text

A. Definition

a report text is used to serves to provide information about an event or situation, after the investigation and through the multi consideration. Definition of text report is also fairly similar to what is often mentioned in various books in English at the intermediate level, “Report is a text roomates present information about something, as it is. 1. Title
Title for what you want to report

2. General Clasification
Stating classification of general aspect of thing; animal, public place, plant, etc which will be discussed in general

3. Description
Tells what the phenomenon under discussion ; in terms of parts, qualities, habits or behaviors

A. Definition

Descriptive Text is a text which says what a person or a thing is like. Its purpose is to describe and reveal a particular person, place, or thing.

B. Structure of Descriptive Text

1. Identification
Introducing where or who is the subject is being describe

2. Description
describes parts,qualities,and the characteristic of the person,place,or thing to be describe

EXAMPLE

Singapore

Singapore is a South-east Asian country located between Malaysia and Indonesia
